    Academy of Friends - www.academyoffriends.org

    Academy of Friends is an annual Academy Awards Gala that benefits HIV and AIDS. Brothers from several Bay Area chapters help to setup, serve, and takedown the event.

    Adventure Playground - www.ci.berkeley.ca.us/marina/marinaexp/adventplgd.html

    Adventure playground is a large build-your-own playground located at the Berkeley Marina where children of all ages can come to engage in adult-supervised crafts and play. Our Brothers help to perform take down and clean-up so that this wonderful program can continue to exist.

    American Red Cross Blood Drive

    Brothers work with the American Red Cross to host a blood drive across the UC Berkeley campus where each pint of blood can save a life.

    Bone Marrow Drive

    Of the National Registry for bone marrow donors, only 25% are minorities, and only 6.6% of that 25% are Asians. Unfortunately, all those of minority descent have unique tissue types that are found only in their own respective community, and the odds of finding a match for Asians are one in 10,000 to one in 1,000,000. Brother Jenny Lee (DW) initiated a joint effort with the Asian American Donor Program to recruit potential bone marrow donors on the UC Berkeley campus that will help to save the lives of patients with leukemia, lymphomas, and other life-threatening blood disorders.

    Brewer Middle School Tutoring

    A traditional service project initiated by Brothers Jenny S Chang (CLC) and Jenny Lam (CLC), Brewer Middle School Tutoring is an after-school program that aims to help low-income Oakland youth achieve through homework tutoring and positive encouragement.

    Cal Star Yoga - www.decal.org/calstaryoga

    CalStar Yoga is a UC Berkeley DeCal class initiated by Brother Ben Lintschinger (JSC). This program strives to assist individuals with disabilities through yoga and massage therapy. Students help recipients perform exercises in Thai massage, Shiatsu, and other forms of physical therapy.

    Chaparral House - www.chaparralhouse.org

    Chaparral House is a home for the elderly. Brothers volunteer to make their lives more enjoyable through home-improvement, gardening, and spending time with the elders.

    Eggstravaganza

    Eggstravaganza is one of our traditional chapter initiated events in collaboration with the City of Oakland. Brothers setup games and activities for children on Easter Holiday in a fun and safe environment.

    Glide Memorial Church - www.glide.org/Meals.aspx

    Glide Memorial Church, located in the San Francisco Tenderloin, strives to help the needy. Brothers help to prepare sandwiches and other nutritious meals for the homeless. On a given day, volunteers prepare 800 sandwiches that go to feed hungry mouths.

    Habitat for Humanity

    During the aftermath of the Hurricane Katrina disaster that devastated the Gulf Coast of the United States, Brothers traveled to New Orleans to aid in the rebuilding effort.

    Halloween Carnival at Emerson Elementary

    The Halloween Carnival provides fun and educational games and activities to children that aim to teach about good nutrition and healthy living. This is a chapter initiated event created by brother Michelle Gubatina (JY).

    Merit Badge Extravaganza

    The Merit Badge Extravaganza (commonly known as Scouting University) is a cooperative project between Alpha Phi Omega and the Boy Scouts of America to host an all-day merit badge achievement program. Scouts are given the opportunity to pursue disciplines in many fields ranging from astronomy to first aid.

    Playland-Not-At-The-Beach - www.playland-not-at-the-beach.org

    Playland-Not-At-The-Beach is a free museum and family fun center that is a revival of San Francisco's Playland-At-The-Beach and other amusement parks of yesteryear. Brothers help to rebuild a magnificent amusement theme park where children of all ages can find a safe place to have fun.

    Pledge Class Service Project

    During each academic semester, the pledge class finds and initiates their own service project.

    Project Open Hand - www.openhand.org

    Project Open Hand provides nutrition services to people living with HIV/AIDS and other critical illnesses and to seniors. Brothers help to prepare and package food for these needy people.
